Eva Melhuish is a freelance illustrator based in South Somerset, UK, whose work is rooted in a lifelong love of nature, storytelling and traditional hand-drawn illustration. Working predominantly in watercolour, gouache, pencil and pen, Eva creates detailed wildlife and botanical artwork, children’s and educational illustration, decorative design, and Scandinavian-inspired Christmas and winter imagery. Her distinctive Nordic-inspired work draws on her Swedish heritage and a deep affection for forests, wildlife, snowy landscapes and the magic of long winter nights. Eva has illustrated more than 25 books and worked on a diverse range of projects for international clients across publishing, greeting cards, packaging, textiles and design. She particularly enjoys the variety that illustration brings, moving from carefully observed natural history one day to whimsical winter scenes and characters the next. After studying Graphic Design in Devon, Eva went on to specialise in Illustration at Falmouth, where she began her professional career. Today, she still finds the same joy in sitting down at her drawing board, palette at the ready, and beginning a new project. Her clients include UNICEF, Natur & Kultur, Korsch Verlag, HarperCollins, Kingfisher, Hamlyn, David & Charles, Victoria House Publishing, Otter House, Gardiner’s of Scotland, Aller Media, Bosch, Kinnarps, Lewis & Irene, Headlands Pappersindustri, Swedish American Institute, Woodmansterne, Papperix, Gift Chalet, Hoffman ind Campe Verlag.
